*There were 152 cargo theft incidents reported in 2015’s third quarter.
*“The average loss value per incident during this time was $199,467,” a 7% increase over second quarter and a 38% decrease compared to the same period last year. 1
*One of these thefts was valued at over $1 million.
*Food/Beverages were the number one stolen product accounting for 22% of thefts. Electronics came in second at 12%, followed by auto & parts (11%), home & garden (11%), and building & industrial (9%).
*Most thefts occurred in unsecured parking areas (82%).
*Full truckloads were reported stolen in 81% of cases followed by pilferage (9%), fictitious pickup (5%), and facility theft (5%).
