Supporting over three dozen different charities and organizations, Road Scholar Transport’s awareness fleet has just gotten a little bigger, with the addition of our Ronald McDonald House awareness truck.
According to Richard Bradshaw, executive director for Ronald McDonald House (RMH) of Scranton, RMH’s purpose is “to provide a home away from home for families with seriously ill or injured children in area medical facilities. We enhance our mission by establishing and managing Ronald McDonald Family Room programs in area hospitals that provide a comfortable, homelike environment for our families.”
Bradshaw learned about Road Scholar’s awareness campaign through a friend of their organization who introduced him to Jim Barrett, president of Road Scholar Transport. “At the end of our conversation, Jim was very excited to help share the mission of the Ronald McDonald House in Scranton and generously offered to provide this trailer,” said Bradshaw, who went on to explain how the design of the truck came about.
“We met with our good friend and local artist Devon O’Keefe. We thought a painting that captured the spirit and beauty of our mission would be wonderfully depicted on the trailer. Devon went right to work and we were so happy when the trailer rolled out and we saw how it captured the essence of our beautiful house in the hill section of Scranton.”
With its mission clearly stated, the trailer also contains images of children holding onto one another, depicting the organization’s goal of “keeping families close.”
“We couldn’t be more grateful,” Bradshaw said about Road Scholar’s awareness program. “It is a beautiful and very generous outreach provided by Road Scholar. To have our local Ronald McDonald House shared throughout the region in such a fantastic way is so valuable. Now families who may need our services or who may know someone who does, may actually have the information they need drive alongside them, even in route to the hospital. We want to express our thanks to Jim and Road Scholar for being so generous and considering Ronald McDonald House of Scranton for this amazing opportunity.”
