On July 23, 2014, three-month-old Jude Zayac passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). SIDS typically strikes children under the age of one unexpectantly and is known as the number one cause of death in children under one year of age, claiming the lives of nearly 4,000 each year.
In memory of their son, Greg and Theo Zayac formed the Jude Zayac Foundation with a mission to “raise funds to support SIDS research and enrich the lives of children living in their community.”
On Sunday, April 28th, the 5th annual Jog for Jude event will be held to raise money for St. Joseph’s Center Baby Pantry and SIDS research being conducted at Boston Children’s Hospital.
The event will take place at the Dunmore Community Center in Dunmore, PA and consist of a 5K and 1 mile fun walk. Check in time for the race is from 7:30-8:45 am with a start time of 9 am. Those who sign up on or before April 10th will receive a DriFit short sleeve race T-shirt. Any participant signing up after April 10th will receive T-shirts on a first come, first serve basis. Registration costs $25 for adults and $10 for children 6-13 years of age. Click here to register.
Following the race will be a day of family fun with a Community Celebration – featuring food and drink, basket raffles, face-painting, a bounce house, DJ, and more! Awards will also be given for the race.
Road Scholar Transport is honored to be part of this amazing initiative and will be wearing pink and blue this Friday in support of The Jude Zayac Foundation. Not only that, but our SIDS awareness truck will be at the event as well!
The Jude Zayac Foundation joined Road Scholar’s awareness fleet back in 2015 at the first annual Jog for Jude 5K and since, has been traveling our nation’s roads on a daily basis building awareness for SIDS and reminding everyone that “There is no foot too small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world.”
